#1. Endeavour to abstain from buying food whilst out and about.
This first thing may not seem super thrifty, but I have a real problem with not buying food when I'm out and if manage to overcome this weakness, I'll be one step closer to ultimate thriftiness! Also, more importantly, I've developed a real sense of awareness in regards to the amount of homeless people that there are in the world around me. Do I really need to buy food when I have the luxury of cupboards full of food at home? No, not at all. That 20p,£1,£5 etc. spent on a McFlurry, Big Mac or Fillet Burger could go to far better use such as to the guy that sells The Big Issue or the woman huddling under an umbrella in the rain with her beloved dog.
#2. Only buy what I need and not what I want.
As with the previous "thrifty thing", I have a really bad habit of buying more of what I want and less of what I really need. This leads to me spending the whole of my allowance each month before the month is up wishing the return of the 1st of the month to come to save me from my penniless self.
#3. Save a £1 a day for the next year.
If I save a pound a day, I'll have £365 by the Jan 1st. 2014 with minimal effort required. Who doesn't want to be £365 richer?!
And here are my thirteen other not so thrifty things that I want to do in 2013:
#1. Read 20 books
#2. Get a permanent job#3. Volunteer at several high-profile charity events
#4. Slim down to 8 stone
#5. Donate £500 to the homeless/charity
#6. Go abroad!
#7. Grow my hair to armpit length
#8. Get 100 followers on this blog
#9. Blog 100 times
#10. Get Gold in healthchecks for all subjects
#11. Give up meat for the WHOLE of Lent
#12. Spend nothing for a week
#13. Grow 2/3 inches
